About the teacher: I was introduced to yoga in 2003 as a means to deal with the chaos in my life and I was amazed the tools that I learned in classes really worked! I have practiced and studied many different types of yoga, including Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Yin, Restorative, Moksha, Anusara, Partner, Iyengar and Hatha. It is nice to be able to pull various things from different traditions because I have found that one style is not suitable for me every day and I try to teach what I have experienced.

I started teaching classes at college a few years later and completed a yoga teacher training a few months after graduating. I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the teachers I have had and continue to have who have taught me many valuable things that have impacted my life in a major way.

In my classes, I like to focus on safety, having fun (or at least breathing during the not-so-fun experiences) and seeing how things that are learned on the mat can be transferred to living off the mat.

About the teacher: I am a yogi, comedian, clown, film maker, and global citizen.

Yoga is many things for me. It\'s a great way of focusing before a performance, a means of opening up to a creative process, a system of stress management, a path to enlightenment. Above all, it is a practice of personal transformation.

The goal of the practice I lead is to inspire awareness, breath and connection. If one can do this in a personal sphere, it can be carried into a community sphere and potentially the atmosphere.

Lindsey is the founder of Operation Sock Monkey- a FUND and FUN raiser in support of Clowns Without Borders South Africa, bringing psychosocial support, laughter and lots of smiles to Orphans and Vulnerable Children in South African communities affected by HIV/ AIDS. Teacher: Esther McDonald

Teaching location: Toronto, ON

About the teacher: Esther has been curious about the mind, body, and the power of movement for as long as she can remember. With a broad background of performance and yoga training, Esther brings her knowledge of Ashtanga, Hatha, and Vinyasa yoga, as well as classical dance, circus arts, theatre, voice and Thai yoga massage.

Esther is constantly seeking to deepen her own personal practice and to expand her understanding of yoga. "It is a life long journey that I am fortunate to be on."

She loves working with children and animals and feels they often teach her more about yoga than any asana or book.

About the teacher: Kimberlee is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher and a member of the American Council on Exercise Continuing Education Faculty. She has been an American Council on Fitness certified instructor since 1992 and is a YogaFitÆ certified instructor. She began her yoga journey in 1996 and has studied a variety of styles but found the adaptive vinyasa (flow) style as taught by YogaFitÆ a perfect match with her own personal philosophy that yoga is for everyone. She founded Punk Rock YogaÆ in July, 2003 to fulfill community service requirements of her yoga certification, but found it ultimately rewarding and continued to offer classes long after fulfilling her obligations.

She believes yoga should bring someone closer to a state of peace through active meditation. Since spirituality is profound and personal, Kimberlee allows students to explore their own spirituality in yoga, rather than dictate that students must all be Hindus/Buddhists/Bahai/etc. In yoga, everyone has a place to work, no matter how long someone has been practicing. Yoga teaches inner strength, so Kimberlee believes people should view themselves from the inside, not from the outside.

About the teacher: Brian Williams has been practicing yoga for ten years. After being inspired by his favorite teacher, Sadie Nardini, he decided to teach. Since completing his studies with Ms. Nardini, he has been teaching at some of NYC's most beautiful studios. He is thrilled to be a part of the uplifting community of students and teachers at the amazing East/West Yoga. He heard about Punk Rock Yoga from a friend and was so excited by the idea, he decided to bring it to New York so he could share this vibrant and rebellious yoga with his friends. Brian's classes are heavily influenced by his love of laughter, rock and roll, and fun. His flowing classes focus on strong core work, and moving through the poses to create a vibrant and often suprising dance. In addition to Sadie, Brian is constantly inspired by Bryan Kest, and he incorporates a wide variety of influences to create an uplifting, sweaty, and soulful journey to center.
